Subsea arches
The Arch model component enables modelling mid-water arches that are included within lazy-S and lay-wave flexible riser configurations. Equivalent loads (drag, inertia, mass, buoyancy) will be used to model the structure. Each Arch is characterized by a number of data, which can be split as follows :
-
General data: to specify the name of your arch, the position of the arch center expressed in the global coordinate system, and the heading.
-
Drawing : to define all the geometrical parameters used to display the floater in the 3D view window.
-
Properties : to define the mechanical and hydrodynamic properties of the arch.
-
Numerical parameters : to define numerical parameters used during the numerical calculation.
-
Guides/Hanging points : to define the different guides over the arch, each one being characterized by its transversal position with respect to the geometrical center of the arch. Hanging points must be defined with respect to the geometrical center of the arch.
Note
- The line is continuous over the arch.
- More refined arch models can be defined using a Rigid body component given an Arch shape. This allows to accurately model contact between the Arch body and the flexible risers and also avoids the need for additional connection points on the arch.
