*STCONNECT

Data format:

An arbitrary number of lines with 7 parameters each, as follows:

IELEM IPRO NO1 NO2 IFLAG NCHORD IDDL
...

Status:

Optional

Purpose:

To define connection stiffness elements between two nodes (NO1 and NO2)

Restriction:

The two nodes must be defined as superposed intially. NO1 is a fairlead node (connected to the rigid body ensuring the connection between several lines). NO2 is a node part of a beam element. It is recommended to use the Beta angle option on the beam (Beta angle). Indeed the local axis of NO1 is forced to be equal to the local axis of NO2 at initialisation. Using a Beta angle on the beam therefore defined properly the beam (and therefore NO2) local axis.
- The stiffness matrix used is then defined in NO2 local axis if NCHORD=0 (Chord node not provided).
- If the chord node is provided, In-PLane and Out-of-Plane are defined. In-plane is the plane containing the Z-axis of NO2 and NCHORD, and Out-of-Plane is the plane perpendicular to the In-Plane axis. The local Y-axis of the connection is the vector product of NO2 Z-axis by NCHORD Z-axis. The local Z-axis is the brace Z-axis. Finally, local X is defined such that (X,Y,Z) is a direct frame.

Details :

Parameter Description
IELEM Identification number of the element
IPRO Identification number of the property (i;e; stiffness matrix) defined by *STPRO
NO1 Node attached to a rigid body
NO2 Node of a beam element or linked to a rigid body
IFLAG If IFLAG=0 , the boundary conditions on NO2 are unchanged
If IFLAG=1, all DOFs of the connections (beam side) are freed at step 0 if IDDL=0. If IDDL/=0: then the connection type is checked and the degrees of freedom are individually modified based on the value of IDDL
NCHORD Chord node Number
IDDL Six digits integer to define the updated boundary conditions on the six degrees of freedom in local translation and rotation (0: free, 1: constraint)
