*WAVEDIR

Data format:

A line with one value (IDIR) followed by a two lines with IDIR-1 value

IDIR

TETA(1) ... TETA(IDIR-1)

PER(1) ... PER(IDIR-1)

Purpose :

To split a wave defined as a wave elevation in more than one direction

Restriction :

A wave defined by a wave elevation time series must have been previously defined

Details :

Parameter Description
IDIR Number of directions (must be greater than 1)
TETA(1) ... TETA(IDIR-1) Extra directions (degrees)
PER(1) ... PER(IDIR-1) cut-off periods (seconds, in increasing order)

When defining a wave from a wave elevation, a reference direction is entered (See WAVE ). A Fourier transform is then performed to reproduce the wave elevation in terms of Fourier series and all the components are applied in the reference direction. With the parameter IDIR (IDIR >1), the Fourier spectrum can be split in IDIR directions. Then IDIR-1 direction must be defined (the reference direction is the first direction). The Fourier components of the wave elevation between 0 seconds and PER(1) seconds will be applied in the reference direction, between PER(1) seconds and PER(2) seconds in TETA(1) and so on.
