What's New in Version 5.9
Version 5.9.2
Model set-up
Writing a model in Excel format
The procedure for saving the model in an Excel file are detailed in DeepLines model in Excel format.
Most components in a model can be written into Excel format. See the Components which cannot defined in Excel format section for more details.
Warning
Excel files in version 5.8.5 are compatible for reading, except for link objects (Link sheet) and spring or flexjoint connections (Connection sheet), since version 5.9.1 introduces the concept of Link properties. To load an Excel file in version 5.8.5 containing links, proceed as follows:
-
Load the Excel file using version 5.8.5 of the GUI executable,
-
and with version 5.9.1 of the GUI executable:
-
Load the DSK file created in the previous step,
-
Export the model to Excel format.
-
Realistic 3D
A 3D realistic view has been added to both the model (dsk) and the simulation (dss).
Substructure floater
A substructure model is now easier to define. For a mesh divided into several sub-structures, each substructure can be easily associated to a line segment or a rigid body of a model : this can easily set-up substructure models.
This new approach simplifies the existing concept of multi-structure floater since it no longer requires going through ISYMOST to associate sub-structures with model components.
HDB creation
HDB creation for multiple floaters and motion RAO's have been added. Low frequency QTF option has been added as well as the possibility to run some computations in a multi process mode to speed-up the HDB file creation.
Tubular joints flexibilities and stress concentration factors
Local joints flexibilities can be automatically computed from the Buitrago's parametric expressions.
Similarly, stress concentration factors (SCF) for tubular joints used by fatigue analysis can be automatically computed using the Efthymiou method.
For more details, see section Tubular joints : stiffnesses and Stress Concentration Factors.
Fatigue analysis on tubular joints using SCF is described in section Tubular joints - Connections (by subjoint)
Fatigue results
- Fatigue results can be displayed in the 3D view.
- The use of the fatigue combination functionality has been simplified and extended to database results.
Marine growth : new options available
User can now choose if marine growth is defined according to water depth and calculate marine growth according to line initial position, line position after cable interfacing or after each static step. For more information, visit the dedicated page.
Structural Code Checks improvements
- Stiffeners for circular or rectangular hollow stiffened local sections can be defined in a table (see Stiffeners).
- The sea pressure for lines belonging to a substructure floater is computed as a Hull dynamic pressure.
-
Code check studies can be defined in Excel format and the Code check study, Structure properties or Joint sheets can be:
-
Either read from a complete model in Excel format or written from a complete model in DSK format (like all other sheets).
-
Either read a posteriori (once a model is loaded) from an Excel file containing the sheet or written independently of the rest of the model in an Excel file (and this is a specific feature of these sheets, see Importing or exporting specific sheets).
In batch mode, it will be also possible to perform sensitivity analyses that means launching code check calculations with different parameter values. To do so, it is possible to load new values of the structure properties and/or code check parameters in Excel file before launching the code check processing (see Code check study) without opening the model in the GUI.
-
Improved speed of LOG and DSS files generation
The generation of .log and .dss files from an environment set has been optimized leading to substantial gain in time for large number of analyses.
Lines display
Line display has been updated to draw rectangular sections and apply beta angle rotations.
A line amplification option has been added to ease the visualization in the 3D view and in the 3D realistic view without having to change the line dimensions. This option can be defined in the line itself or through the quick data access.
Load excursions
A new load excursion property type has been created. It can be used to define load excursion properties without having to use an external .dat file. Different properties (as a type or as an imported file) can be used for the static and dynamic calculations of the same analysis and can be visualized with a graph. A breaking load has been added to the load excursions basic properties.
Rigid bodies
A frame zoom has been added to enlarge the local axes that could sometimes be too small to be viewed in the 3D view.
Aerodeep library
Review of dynamic stall models and slight modification of the Risoe model.
Introduction of a relaxation coefficient for tip loss of a vertical axis wind turbine (useful for very low wind speed cases).
Aerodynamic Output Review.
Numerical scheme
Two options for the Newmark scheme are now available from the interface. This is available from the advanced panel of the dynamic analysis in the calculation parameters of an analysis. At the beginning of a new time step:
- Initial values X(t+dt) are computed value at X(t) [X : position vector of the nodes]
- Initial values X(t+dt) are computed value at X(t+dt)=X(t)+V(t).dt [V : Velocity vector of the nodes]
- Initial values X(t+dt) are computed value at X(t+dt)=X(t)+V(t).dt+0.5*A(t).dt.dt [A : Acceleration vector of the nodes]
Intensive calculation
An option in predefined results to request outputs during a calculation has been added.
